"By introducing the innovative Physical Activity Reward System - P.A.R.S. - to your family you will be sending a constant message, without saying a word, that ongoing physical activity is essential to good health and is therefore a family priority. In doing so, it is our hope that your child will develop a positive physical activity habit that will help prevent those ugly sedentary diseases and systematically increase the quality of his or her life forever!"
Using P.A.R.S. is as easy as 1-2-3!
1. Set the Goal and the Reward: The parent and the child/teen agree on a specific allowance or reward for pre-determined amounts of time spent in physical activity. The physical activity goal and reward information is easily entered into P.A.R.S.
2. Measure and Reward the Time Spent in Physical Activity: Track physical activity time with a pedometer, Polar FA 20 Activity Watch, smart phone, or just estimate the amount of time spent in physical activity. Enter the information into P.A.R.S. and track progress by monitoring the bar graph.

3. Reward the Achievement: Once the goal has been reached, celebrate the achievement by providing the reward with enthusiasm. Then set a new goal!

Need additional motivation - Use modern technology to provide real leverage: The parent makes sure the child/teen understands that, if he or she does not respond positively to the rewards, P.A.R.S. modern technology has the ability to safely and easily turn off the flow of electricity to designated TV’s and video consoles in the house. Then, the child/teen will have to bank the time spent in physical activity and spend it to watch TV or play video games. Just the thought of limited viewing time is motivation enough to keep most P.A.R.S. user's active!

In other words, if Billy chooses not to participate in the program and meet the goals he and his parent agreed upon, his parent will turn off the flow of electricity to his television and/or game console. Then Billy has to "bank" his physical activity time and spend it to safely get the electricity restored so that he can resume his video game and/or television privileges. It is this type of 'cause and effect' that reinforces the message that ongoing physical activity and active play is essential to good health and is therefore a family priority.

By the way, if you want to know how turning off the flow of electricity happens, here is the "Cliff Notes" version. Using "X10" equipment, the P.A.R.S. software sends signals through the electrical wiring in the wall to electricity control modules, located between the wall electrical outlet and the viewing screen, that control the flow of electricity to designated viewing devices. (The X10 equipment is a seperate order from the Membership Subscription or Polar equipment order.)
Additional Support: The two private NewWayFitness community web sites, the KidZone and Parent Support Center, are unique in that they serve as web portals identifying carefully selected physical activity, nutrition, weight management, and other health related programs and resources that can be used as additional health and fitness facilitators.
